About us

At our core, we are innovators committed to redefining materials science and engineering for the modern era. Based in Kiel, Germany, we are AERO MATERIALS, bridging cutting-edge research with real-world applications.

Our unique nanostructured material, inspired by aero graphene or “aero graphite” developed at Kiel University, is made of over 99.9 % air, ultra-light, electrically conductive, mechanically resilient and scalable.

The original research was led by Prof. Rainer Adelung and his team in the Functional Nanomaterials group at Kiel University. As we have launched a spin-off, part of the team has evolved into AERO MATERIALS GmbH to bring these aero‑materials from the lab into industrial use.

Managed by Niklas Dreiskämper and Caprice Mohr, AERO MATERIALS combines business execution and materials science. Niklas previously worked at Commerzbank and McKinsey & Company; Caprice has been part of Kiel University’s aero materials research since 2020, leading our technology from lab to market.
