Vacuum gripping, reinvented.
No pump. No compressor. No moving parts. The material is the machine.
AERO MATERIALS is building a novel vacuum gripper that enables great flexibility while also saving more than 90% of energy compared to pneumatic systems. A short electrical pulse is all it takes.
Who we are
We are a deep-tech spin-off from Kiel University, building industrial products on the foundation of a patented nanostructured material. Our first product is a vacuum gripper that replaces complex pneumatic infrastructure with a compact module driven by a single electrical pulse.
One material,
countless applications
AERO MATERIALS was founded around a versatile aero material platform: while the vacuum gripper is our first product focus, the underlying material enables many more applications.
Using electrically triggered air expansion, our material generates force and motion without pumps, pistons, or moving parts.
Its vast, fully accessible internal surface area enables highly efficient filtration of air and liquids, with potential for self-cleaning and sterilization.
Its porous 3D scaffold promotes nutrient exchange and capillary action, making it a compelling substrate for advanced cell cultures.
When turned into aero glass, the material’s precise light diffusion characteristics enable advancements in energy-efficient laser and LED technologies.
Lightweight and electrically conductive, the material provides effective electromagnetic shielding for aerospace, defense, and sensitive electronics.
These are just the applications we are actively exploring. The properties of our material open the door to many more.
